Jamie Moenster, D.O., F.A.C.O.S., F.A.C.S

Dr. Jamie Moenster believes that each plastic surgery patient has distinctive needs, wants, and desires. By taking the necessary time to listen to you in your consultation, she will tailor an individualized, personal treatment or surgical plan to help meet your aesthetic goals. She focuses on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast and body including breast reconstruction and body contouring.

A native of Missouri, Dr. Moenster graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. She then completed five years of residency in general surgery and two years of fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at South Pointe Hospital/Cleveland Clinic Health Systems in Cleveland, Ohio. She served as the chief resident in both general and plastic surgery. Dr. Moenster is dual Board Certified in Plastic, Reconstructive and General Surgery by the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Board of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Moenster earned the title Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgery (FACOS) in 2012. The FACOS designation is granted for demonstrating commitment to the practice of surgery, surgical teaching, authorship of professional papers/posters, and participation in local, state, and national organizations. Dr. Moenster earned the title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. The FACS designation is granted for demonstrating ethical fitness and professional proficiency. She has been recognized for her research in breast reconstruction at the national and state level. She received the Resident Achievement Award by the ACOS in 2010. She was awarded the CORE/OUCOM Resident of the Year and Skills Lab Instructor of the Year.

She is on staff at Northwest Medical Center, Canyon Vista Hospital, Northwest Tucson Surgery Center, and St. Mary’s Carondelet.

In her free time she enjoys cooking, working out, and traveling with her husband, Dr. Chris Weyer (Dermatologist/Mohs surgeon), a native of southern Arizona.

Marco Swanson, M.D.

Dr. Swanson’s one and only goal is to make you happy. With over 15 years of excellent training, meticulous attention to detail, artistic abilities, and passion for anatomy, Dr. Swanson can offer you the best and latest options for your particular problem or concern. Every patient is different, and Dr. Swanson is a firm believer in taking time to understand your personal wishes to give you the most natural and best possible outcome.

Dr. Swanson loves doing the full breadth of plastic surgery, both elective and reconstructive. Due to his subspecialized focus in training, his expertise lies in aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body. He is particularly interested in facial aesthetics and reconstruction, including functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty, periorbital surgery, facial rejuvenation, reconstruction after Mohs as well as cleft lip/palate.

Dr. Swanson was born in Sierra Vista and raised in Southern Arizona as well as Northern Mexico. With family on both sides of the border, Dr. Swanson is intimately familiar with the community and their needs. His interest in medicine and surgery were instilled in him from early childhood witnessing his father’s busy ophthalmology practice. His pursuit towards plastic and reconstructive surgery arose through his passion for anatomy, the broadness and variety of the specialty, the ability to help patients of all ages as well as the countless opportunities for humanitarian work.

Dr. Swanson has constantly tried to excel academically and professionally, holding himself to the highest standards throughout his education. He graduated one year early from Douglas High School and went on to study Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University where he graduated with honors. He was then accepted to the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, a top medical school with an acceptance rate of less than 5% at the time. From medical school, he also graduated with Honors as well as Distinction in Clinical Research. Dr. Swanson began his plastic surgery integrated training at the same institution and transferred midway to continue his training at the Cleveland Clinic, the second best hospital in the world at the time. While in Cleveland, Dr. Swanson had the incredible opportunity to focus on aesthetic plastic surgery of the face, breast and body, under world-renowned experts in the field, namely facial and rhinoplasty surgery. To this day, Dr. Swanson has contributed to over 30 scientific publications including studies and book chapters, as well as over 40 podium presentations in conferences.

Christopher Weyer, D.O., F.A.O.C.D, F.A.C.M.S., F.A.A.D

A native to Arizona, Dr. Christopher Weyer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona. He then worked at the Arizona Cancer Center and in Department of Pathology under the direction of Dr. Ray Nagle. While there he researched the growth, invasion and metastasis of prostate cancer before his acceptance to medical school.

Dr. Weyer graduated from the founding Osteopathic medical school, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. He then completed a traditional rotating internship at Richmond Heights Hospital in Ohio, followed by a dermatology residency in Kirksville, Missouri at Northeast Regional Medical Center. He continued his training with a fellowship in Mohs Surgery at the Center for Surgical Dermatology in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Weyer was employed by the world famous Cleveland Clinic in the Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Institute as a Mohs surgeon from 2011-2012 before returning to his native home of Arizona to provide quality skin cancer care.

He is the distinguished winner of the Tromovitch Award from the American College of Mohs Surgery in 2012. This award is given to the graduating fellow with the most significant contribution to research in skin cancer/Mohs surgery.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys fishing, and hunting. He maintains an active lifestyle with CrossFit and soccer. He also enjoys cooking and travel.

Elizabeth S. Lee, MD

Elizabeth S. Lee, MD is the surgeon at our clinic and specializes in cosmetic, plastic, and reconstructive surgery. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and minors in Spanish and Chemistry. She then attended the University of Arizona College of Medicine, graduating in May of 2012.

Dr. Lee completed her general surgical internship and residency at the University of Arizona Department of Surgery and was Intern of the Year for 2012-2013. She then completed her plastic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where she was the Administrative Chief Resident for 2019-2020. She was also an Assistant Clinic Professor for the Division of Plastic Surgery at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson prior to joining us at Hess & Sandeen Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Lee is board-certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified. She is a member of the Association of Women Surgeons, the Association of Academic Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Lee’s areas of interest include breast reconstruction, cosmetic, and transgender surgery. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, being outdoors, working out, and gardening.

Sven N. Sandeen, MD

Sven N. Sandeen, MD is a cosmetic, plastic, and reconstructive surgeon. He attended the University of Arizona, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in biology, a split minor in chemistry, physics, and math. He also obtained an additional minor in Spanish. Dr. Sandeen lived abroad in Spain during his senior year and was also accepted into Phi Beta Kappa. He then went on to attend the University of Arizona College of Medicine where he graduated in the top 5% of his class and was accepted into Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society.

Prior to graduating, he traveled to Ecuador. While there, he spent time with a local surgeon performing rural surgery near Cuenca. Dr. Sandeen performed his general surgical internship and residency at the University of Rochester in New York. He then completed his plastic surgery residency at the same institution. His special interests throughout his training have been in cosmetic, reconstructive, and hand surgery.

Dr. Sandeen is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Ladislav Kuchar, DPM, MS, FACFAS

Dr. Kuchár obtained his doctorate degree from the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Miami Shores, FL in 2003 where he graduated with honors. He completed his residency training in one of the foremost Podiatric residency programs in the country – St John North Shores Hospital in Harrison Township, MI. Prior to attending the podiatric school he also attended the allopathic School of Medicine at the PJ Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia. Dr. Kuchar has special interest in Foot and Ankle surgery.

Dr. Kuchár is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS).

Burkley J. Jensen, DPM, FACFAS

Dr. Burkley J. Jensen grew up in Mesa, AZ and graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He attended Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. He completed a three year foot and ankle reconstructive surgical residency in Upstate New York.

During his training he spent time in Baltimore, MD at the Rubin Institute of Advanced Orthopedics assisting in the correction of severe lower extremity deformities. His training has allowed him to treat a wide array of foot and ankle pathologies. His goal is to help people get better with conservative treatments but is ready to implement more aggressive treatments when necessary. After his surgical residency his family moved to Bismarck, ND where he was employed by a large hospital system (level 2 trauma center) where he spent 9 years practicing as part of the Sports Medicine and Orthopedic surgery group. He is Board Certified in Reconstructive Foot and Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery. He and his partner Dr Huish have office locations in Safford, AZ and Sierra Vista, AZ. 

He is passionate about this field of medicine and loves finding ways to get people literally back on their feet. He loves biking and hiking but his greatest passion is spending time with his wife and five kids. He is excited for the opportunity to get to know the people of this community!

Sarah Otero Quintero, DPM, MS

Dr. Otero obtained her doctorate degree from the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Miami Shores, FL in 2004. She also holds Master Degree in Biomedical Sciences from the same university.

She completed a 3 years podiatric medicine and surgery residency at St. John North Shores Hospital in Harrison Township, Michigan. Dr. Otero has extensive research experience, she has worked at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD and has coauthored many scientific papers. She has a special interest in treatment of fractures, bone infections, diabetics and ulcer care.
